MJS The 12 Notes of Music 2010 Deluxe Revision
For guitar/bass/piano/voice, The 12 Notes of Music, is an ear training method so unique a U.S. Patent has been applied for. There are only 12 notes in the musical alphabet, when you have mastered them you have mastered music. Take an in depth look at each individual note and learn how it associates with other notes, giving you a full understanding of the tonal structure of melodies, harmonies, and chords. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician you will gain a world of insight by learning our twelve musical tones! 18 pages. From the author Mark John Sternal's introduction to The 12 Notes of Music:Dear Musician, Thank you, and congratulations for choosing The Twelve Notes Of Music." Although this is a short book, the information written on its pages is priceless. I devised this concept of ear training while I was teaching music full time in Florida. Interval study is nothing new, but a patterned system for learning each interval in every key, on every guitar or bass string and fret, or every key on a piano makes it easier than ever. I have been using it with my students since 1997 and their progress has been amazing! Their ability to learn by ear has increased dramatically, and much faster than I expected. It has also resulted in more creative, melodic and harmonic writing. My students and I are finding we can name intervals (both melody and harmony) just by hearing them. For example: you're driving in your car and you notice that the progression to the song on the radio uses perfect fourth passing chords for the first two measures, then a minor sixth interval played as a major chord, followed by a minor fourth, then a perfect fifth played as a major chord (which theoretically does not fit, but it sounds perfect in this particular song). If I m losing you here, I apologize. After you ve studied the interval patterns in this book, you will have a complete understanding of these references, and a much deeper appreciation for music. The same applies for writing music; When writing a lead melody, harmony, or chords you will begin to find it easier to find the next note or notes to add to your song. Overall, expressing your musical thoughts will become second nature. With practice you ll be able to do it instantly. Here s how it works: After establishing a root note, there are only 12 intervals that can apply. Spend enough time on each interval and learn to recognize its qualities. When you begin to study the next interval, compare it with what you have already studied and learn their differences. After you have learned all twelve intervals, choose another note as a root and apply the patterns to this key. After you have learned a few keys you will find the remainder of the 12 will progressively get easier, and may not even require much effort at all. That s the beauty of these patterns; they never change. Regardless of what key you re in, a perfect fifth interval will always be a perfect fifth interval. If you don t understand wh...details

MJS The Twelve Notes of Music (Book) ¹
There are only 12 notes in the musical alphabet and when you've mastered them, you've mastered music. The Twelve Notes of Music, a unique patent-applied-for method, takes an in-depth look at each individual note and shows you how it associates with other notes for a full understanding of the tonal structure of melodies, harmonies, and chords. This course will give insight to beginners and advanced musicians alike.Course LayoutIntroduction - Music at its most simplified explanation The Twelve Notes of Music is universal for guitar, bass guitar, and piano. It is simple enough to teach to a 5-year-old child, yet informative enough to be useful for musicians of all ages.Chapter 1 - Pick a note, any note The method in The Twelve Notes of Music lets you blindly pick any note on your instrument and build a musical key based on that note. The intervals After the student has picked a root note in Chapter 1, each succeeding chapter will introduce a new interval. Each chapter explains the uniqueness of tonal relationships between each interval and the root note, pointing out which work best as melodies vs. harmonies; which are pleasant vs. dissonant; and which have major, minor, and neutral qualities.Chapter 13 - The octave Once you reach the octave, it is recommended that you build a second octave. This gives even the young beginner a clear understanding of the repetitive cycles found in music.Scale and chord formulas After you've learned all of the intervals in a key of music, The Twelve Notes of Music offers several formulas for building common scales and chords.Apply it again The Twelve Notes of Music is a short workbook, yet it can be reapplied to every key of music. Once you've learned one key, the author suggests that you reapply the workbook to another note. This reinforces the universal qualities of notation intervals: the mechanics of the music we hear. According to MJS, a student who applies The Twelve Notes of Music to 2 or more keys will usually begin to understand key changes and transposing to all 12 keys at an early stage of musical training.Free lesson support With the purchase of The Twelve Notes Of Music you also gain the author, Mark John Sternal, as a teacher. MJS A Vulgar Display Of Power: Courage And Carnage At The Alrosa Villa (Book)
On December 8th, 1980, a lone gunman took the life of John Lennon, one of rock 'n' roll's most iconic personalities. Almost to the minute, 24 years later, heavy metal's most beloved guitarist, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, was tragically murdered while performing at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. It was a night filled with tragedy, yet it was offset by exceptional heroism. Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, Erin Halk, and Nathan Bray each lost their lives while trying to aid Dimebag and protect the lives of hundreds of people from an armed killing machine."A Vulgar Display of Power" tells the true story of the events leading up to the tragic murders. It peers into the twisted mind and background of a killer intoxicated by psychotic rage and driven by the voice of the beast inside his head. "A Vulgar Display of Power" attempts to make sense of what appears to be a senseless act. Unlike books that only focus on the evil of the killer or the fruits of the crime, "A Vulgar Display of Power" also extols the inspirational selflessness of those who died trying to help others. Within its pages, readers will meet and experience the lives of Erin Halk, Jeff Thompson, and Nathan Bray. In addition, the book contains a moving tribute to "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott with contributions from fans, rock stars, and friends.Supported by approximately 200 never-before-published personal photographs, and augmented by actual crime scene photos, the lives of those lost and the events of the sad evening of December 8th, 2004 will clearly come into focus. "A Vulgar Display of Power" dispels the myths and presents the complex facts behind the horrific murders at the Alrosa Villa. As tragic as the event was, readers will be left in awe by the courage and compassion demonstrated by so many people. The actions of the Columbus Police Department, various fire department and rescue squads, plus many of the Alrosa's staff and patrons reflect the selfless courage of humanity even at times of great distress. Written with a focus on taste, class, and dignity readers are sure to close the last page of this masterpiece with seemingly rival emotions of sadness and pride. What is certain is that anyone who reads "A Vulgar Display of Power" will never forget "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott nor the incredible sacrifices of Nathan Bray, Erin Halk, or Jeff Thompson....details
